In Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 3, 2022, the MGM Grand Garden Arena hosted the 64th annual Grammy Awards ceremony. It honored the most outstanding performers, songs, and recordings from the eligibility year, which spanned September 1, 2020, through September 30, 2021. On November 23, 2021, a digital webcast was used to announce the nominees. On March 15, 24, and 30 in 2022, details about the ceremony’s performers were released. The previous ceremony’s 2021 host, South African comedian Trevor Noah, returned to serve in that capacity. The Recording Academy has never before moved host cities for a single ceremony before, and it was evident in the venue.
With eleven nominations, Jon Batiste received the most, followed by Doja Cat, H.E.R., and Justin Bieber, who each earned eight. The artist with the most accolades, Batiste, earned Album of the Year for We Are. For “Leave the Door Open,” Silk Sonic won Record of the Year and Song of the Year, while Olivia Rodrigo took home the trophy for Best New Artist.
